PIs should not observe alone, for safety and also for efficiency.
Arrange to have a co-observer with you at all allocated times.

Overlap nights are indicated where it would be highly beneficial
for observers to be present before (or after) their dedicated time
allocation, for the purpose of assisting in the transition between
teams.  The overlap time should be considered to be allocable by
mutual agreement between the overlapping parties.
