PRELIMINARIES
You will need :
-
Set of Allen drivers.
-
Small screwdriver. Small pliers.
-
The aluminum ring used for holding the dewar upside down (to be found in
the box of nicmos3 parts under the IR table).
-
The two aluminum blocks wrapped in tape used to separate the bottom and
top parts of the dewar and so that one can unscrew the cold straps from
the cold plate (to be found in the box of nicmos3 parts under the IR table).
-
The companion set of drawings to this manual. I refer to them by the page
number.
-
The replacement detector cover (to be found in the box of nicmos3 parts
under the IR table).
Prepare a clean area for working on the dewar. Use clean paper towels to
put the parts on, small paper cups are useful for storing the small screws
and washers as you go along. I ususally work on the soldering table. Keep
track of where all the pieces, screws and washers go. Also, when working
near any of the electronics, wear a grounded wrist band for electrostatic
protection.
-
Disconnect 2 bendix connectors at the bottom of the dewar, and move it
to your work area.
It goes without saying that the detector should be warm before opening
the dewar.
