REMOVE OUTER SHELL OF BOTTOM PART OF THE DEWAR

This is easy, simply remove the 8 screws at the bottom of the support plate. Those screws keep together 3 pieces: the support plate, the bottom plate of the dewar and the shell; so you just need to be careful that things don't totally fall apart and out of your hands as you remove the final screws.
Make sure that the filter wheel shaft is retracted, you may need to loosen the outside screw a little. Lift off the shell, and set it aside.
