EMSAO Example 3: Fitting a Synthetic Spectrum

Synthetic Galaxy Spectrum

This spectrum was created in rvsao. linespec Example 1. emsao was run to check the line positions using these parameters.

Intermediate Graphs

Intermediate graphs include the spectrum, the continuum fit (which is really unnecessary), and the spectrum with the continuum removed.

Summary Graph

The results are displayed on summary graph. Using the z command, you can zoom in on the H beta region or the H alpha region. Using the / command, you can toggle between this display and the labelled spectrum without other results.

Summary Log

The following is written to the files specified by logfiles. The (No position) and (No observation date) entries in the log indicate that this a synthetic spectrum with are no observation time and sky position parameters in the header.
